A co-venture between Thought Leaders Limited and Epistemics Limited started in 2006, Tacit Connexions was formalised in May 2007. Tacit Connexions brings together the business development and process skills of Thought Leaders with the world-leading software - PCPACK - and specialist knowledge engineering services of Epistemics. Epistemics was formed in 1992 by Professor Nigel Shadbolt and Steve Swallow to bring to market commercially viable tools and methods for knowledge engineering. The co-venture with Thought Leaders provided the process and strategic insights necessary to build enterprise level knowledge solutions.

Tacit Connexions continues to develop its suite of techniques and tools that provide for the efficient acquisition, modelling and management of both explicit and tacit knowledge. Our acclaimed PCPACK software allows knowledge to be captured, analysed, structured, stored and then published as websites or for embedding in other IT systems.

In Professor Nigel Shadbolt, Tacit Connexions possesses a world leader in the development of commercial applications of the latest semantic web technologies including RDF and OWL - which feature in the move from today's Web of Documents to tomorrow's Web of Data. PCPACK is RDF and OWL compliant. Given the necessary starting point of knowledge acquisition, and taken in conjunction with our skills around the construction and inter-mediation of ontologies, Tacit Connexions is now forging new advances in knowledge-based data integration and enterprise search solutions.

A client base of world-class organisations includes Rolls-Royce, Airbus, BAE Systems, Prudential, Royal Air Force, Unilever, Corus, and Thales, keeping Tacit Connexions at the leading edge in the design and implementation of knowledge intensive solutions across a broad range of applications. Tacit Connexions maintains strong research links with a number of academic institutions, such as the universities of Southampton, Manchester and Delft, and with various research and defence agencies throughout the world, including QinetiQ and DARPA.
